A1: NEW 6 kilometers
Aineck piste

Katschberg A1 - Aineck

The association of the A1, being the new piste on Aineck, with the Westautobahn (Western Motorway) is no coincidence. The piste runs straight from the mountain top down to the Salzburg area – 6 km with a constant decline.

This constant decline is the actual reason the A1 is being built: if you wanted to ski from Aineck down into the valley to St. Margarethen, you had to cross a very long and unattractive flat part, where you could hardly gather enough speed. Thank God that the A1, located a little more east, does not slow you down like that anymore. It runs downhill in an absolutely constant and straight line, which is hard to find with other downhill slopes in Austria.

The first third of the A1 is identical with the former slope and leads into a completely new section.
