Courmayeur ski resort information

Courmayeur (1,224 m altitude) is an Italian town in the autonomous region of Aosta Valley, in northern Italy. Courmayeur is an alpine resort located at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe. Boasting centuries of history and a world-wide fame. It is a multi-coloured world with plenty of traditions and folklore where every guest can spend an unforgettable holiday.

The ski resort contains 24 modern and functional lifts (cablecars, chairlifts, ski-lifts). Courmayeur offers 100 kilometres of fun on the snow: downhill slopes, off-pist and cross-country skiing in the Ferret Valley. Snowmaking machines always ensure excellent snow conditions.

Courmayeur - Mont Blanc - Skiing

The ski resort of the "Courmayeur Mont Blanc Cablecar" Company covers two sides of the mountain. The north-east facing Chécrouit consists of wide open plateaux without trees that enjoys  the sun in the morning. The Val Veny facing north-west has wide runs through the woods and is sunny in the afternoon. Everywhere in the resort it is possible to admire the imposing sight of the Monte Bianco chain (4810 m.), the highest mountains in Europe.

The slopes are reachable with the "Courmayeur" and "Val Veny" cablecars and with the "Dolonne" gondola from the centre, from Entrèves village and from Dolonne village respectively. The two sides are connected up by a large network of lifts and runs.

Fun Park Dolonne
The fun park represents a modern solution for the amusement on the snow. 3 conveyor belt lifts, snow tubes pists, inflatable and soft games for kids, ski instructors for your first step on the snow, there is also the possibility to experience the crazy descents with ski fox and snow bike.

Cross Country Skiing - Val Ferret
Courmayeur offers to the cross-country lovers an interesting range of slopes in a typically alpine environment with wonderful forests covered with snow from November to May.
The Val Ferret is placed at the foot of the Mont Blanc chain. The slopes, always tracked and beaten, start from the suggesed village of Planpincieux (1580 m.) and go on along the valley to Lavachey or, for those feeling brave, to Arp Nouvaz. It's possible to choose from the many detours on the runs to make your way longer or shorter from 3 to 20 km. In the Val Ferret there are several bars, restaurants, the ski school and Assistance Services for skiers and where you can rent any equipment you may need.

Arpy
Courmayeur Cross Country SkiingAlong the road to the Colle San Carlo, 7 km from Morgex, lies the valley of Arpy with its larch and fir woods and the crystalline steam that runs through the typical stone-house village. It has an eighteenth century chapel and a glorious mining past of which the attentive observer can still find signs all over the territory. This captivating scenary is the backdrop to the winter season and the cross-country skiing slopes(from 2 to 7.5 km), where every year many regional and national competitions take place. The starting-point is the Foyer of cross-country skiing, situated at Arpy's youth hostel. Inside you will find a dressing room, showers, ski wax making room, bar and restaurant availableto all. For children there is an equipped playing area inside the "Foyer" and a playground reserved for bob and sledge slopes outside.

Off-piste skiing
The Mont Blanc Valley is a paradise for off-piste skiing, at both technical and panoramic level. You can find high class ways like the Vallée Blanche, the Toula glacier and wonderful slopes all over the area

Curling, tennis, squash, climbing wall, fitness centre are available in the Courmayeur Forum Sport Center.

Heliski / Heliboarding
To ski in less frequented places, along glaciers and slopes always different, describing winding trails on virgin winter snow or spring snow is what heliski proposes. In fact the helicopter is the fastest way to reach peaks from where enchanting off-pistes start, perfect for free play to fantasy and ski longing. Heliski is a combination between an helicopter flight and an off-piste ski descent with difference in height between 1050 m. and 2700 m. Slopes are articulated in places reachable only with mountaneering ski equipment, spending many hours for climbing.

Snow Bike
With the beginning of the ski season starts the Snow Bike activity, a quite recent sport that provides the utilization of a mountain bike on the snow.
Particularly appreciated by people who love extreme but not dangerous situations, snowbike is mostly engaged in by groups or with guides. Journeys are planned before and they often provide refreshment halting to permit the participants to enjoy the panorama and local specialities.
The necessary clothing: ski suit or if you prefer plie treasure and windstopping jacket, skigloves and trekking boots.

Indoor swimming pool
The public indoor swimming pool of Pré-Saint-Didier (16 m x 25 m, dept 1,20/3,60 m) is located 5 km from Courmayeur; with its 1 and 3 m. spring-board, the water-slide, the sauna, the swimming and diving courses, the aquafitness and the bar is the best answer to your free time.
