Fresh snow on the Dolomites

About 10-50 cm of fresh snow fell on the Dolomites last night. Today the most beautiful mountains in the world present themselves wearing a smooth, white coat above 1.100 m height. Has the real winter arrived? We all hope, because the season opening is just a couple of weeks away.  On november 28th, the countdown will end and the fun will start.

Although below 1100 meters the snow didn’t get higher than 5-10 cm, above 1200 meters the precipitation was more consistent.

In Ski Civetta on the runs at Alleghe and Col dei Baldi, the snow fell up to 60 cm, in the town of Arabba it got up to 35 cm while on the runs at Porta Vescovo it was 50 cm deep. On Marmolada, the “Queen of the Dolomites” at an altitude of 3343 metres, and on the Padon, between 50 and 80 cm of snow fell. At Zoldo they registered 25 cm, in the Val Biois at Falcade 21 cm and on the runs at Passo San Pellegrino 40 cm.

The snowfalls that have started out the season are a great sign. The media will start the chatter for the beginning of the winter season, and ski lovers will start getting psyched to hit the slopes.

“Fortunately this is not a sporadic precipitation – continues Pra -. Already in the late morning today (Wednesday, November 4th) it has starting snowing again intensely and the weekend weather forecast announced the arrival of a new front with probable heavy snow. From here until the end of the month we hope the snow will fall in abundance, especially at the higher altitudes, and that the temperature won’t exceed the seasonal average, so we can continue to produce artificial snow and work on the runs.”
