NORDIC – CROSS COUNTRY SKIING IN DOLOMITES
A fascinating sport of ancient origin, Nordic skiing inÂ Dolomites is exceptional, both because of the area’s unique landscape as well as because of its avant-garde centres. Not coincidentally, some of the most important Nordic skiing events in the world are held in these mountains, including the Marcialonga, the International Championships and the Nordic Combined World Cup.
DolomitesÂ boasts numerous cross-country skiing tracks of different lengths and different levels of difficulty. Scattered throughout its territory, they unfurl among its valleys and skiing districts. The SuperNordicSkipass has been specifically designed for cross-country aficionados. With a single card, users can take advantage of more than 1200 km of pistes in 19 different cross-country skiing centres. 10 centres are found in Trentino, while the remainder are in Veneto and Emilia-Romagna. The centres in question feature quality structures and services, such as ski schools, refreshment areas and waxing. Furthermore, all boast programmed snow systems as well as guaranteed daily piste maintenance.
Advantage card: skipasses are free for children up to 10 and provide family discounts. They also include a number of other advantages, such as free entry to the MART, the Contemporary and Modern Art Museum of Trento and Rovereto.
Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa
Centro del Fondo Lago di Tesero
Val di Fiemme is renowned as the cradle of Nordic skiing. Lago di Tesero Cross-Country Ski Centre offers 18 km of ski trails with guaranteed snow on 9 circuits set up for classic and free technique. Connections to the Marcialonga di Fiemme e Fassa trail provide skiers with a total of over 43 Km. The Fiemme valley, and especially this centre, has hosted the Nordic Ski World Championships (in 1991 and 2003) and they will be held here again in 2013. Entrance is free during the day; you will be charged only if you enjoy the lighted runs by night. This centre participates in the SuperNordicSkipass plan, a special ski-pass giving access to all the most important cross-country centres in Trentino and throughout Italy.

Passo LavazÃ¨ – Centro Fondo
LavazÃ¨ is a landmark for Nordic ski lovers. The Passo LavazÃ¨ Cross-country ski centre features 85 km total runs – set up daily by a staff of expert technicians – numerous routes winding through the plateau’s beautiful woods, as well as the spectacular mountains of the Latemar chain and the Dolomites.
The centre meets the demands of all levels of skiers and participates in the SuperNordicSkipass plan, a ski pass giving access to all the most important cross-country centres in this region and throughout Italy. A ski waxing service and changing rooms are provided too. SOS points equipped with radiotelephones have been installed along the ski tracks.

Centro Fondo Alochet – San Pellegrino Pass
Not only cross-country skiing at over 1,800 metres a.s.l., but also kilometres of downhill ski-runs in some of the most spectacular surroundings in Trentino. Passo San Pellegrino is a broad Dolomite pass located at about 10 km from Moena, straddling the border between Trentino and the province of Belluno, to the north of which is the Marmolada Massif.
Passo San Pellegrino, one of the most scenic, massive and sunny mountain passes to date, is located among the passes of Rolle, Carezza, Sella, Pordoi and Valles. It is home to the Alochet Cross-country Skiing Centre, one of the most renowned destinations for Nordic skiing. It is possible to ski on almost 20 km of slopes, which are code-coloured – based on the level of difficulty – from blue at Alochet to black at Campo d’Orso and at elevations of between 1,900 and 2,500 metres a.s.l., as well as through the woods near the lake San Pellegrino. The tracks are always well-beaten and groomed for both the classic and skating techniques. Ski-camps, playgrounds, ski schools, ski-waxing service, equipment rentals, bars, parking areas and a skibus service for free are also available.
The Centre is included in the SuperNordicSkipass, the only ski pass you need to access the main Trentino and Italian skiing destinations.

Folgaria Lavarone and Luserna plateaux
At just 6 km from Folgaria, at 1600 m asl, the Passo Coe cross-country skiing Centre offers 34 km of pistes, with circuits of various lengths and difficulty, to suit all, from beginners to competitive skiers. The runs are approved for national and international competitions. The Casa del fondista provides ski-waxing services, changing rooms, showers and first aid. There is also an opportunity for cardio-respiratory measurement on the ground with telemetry monitoring equipment.
The centre has a competition office and a technical organization service for top-level and other competitions. The centre also serves as a base for ski-orienteering, with the opportunity to attend lectures and presentations.

Lavarone – Centro Fondo Millegrobbe
Millegrobbe, over 35 km of cross-country ski runs in an incomparable natural settingÂ The Millegrobbe cross-country ski Centre (1424 m asl), at 12 km from Lavarone and 2 km from Luserna, is the Italian equivalent to the Great North. Straddling the Veneto and Trentino plateaux, the area is the location for the renowned Millegrobbe, one of Europe’s number one international cross-country skiing events.
The Centre is a member of the Super Nordic Skipass, the only skipass you need to access the principal cross-country skiing facilities in Trentino and the whole of Italy, with a broad array of opportunities: 35 km of pistes to suit all abilities, from beginners to competitive racers, 5 of which have guaranteed snow, thanks to a programmed snow-making system, and all are designed for both the classic and free technique.
A 12 km link leads to Passo Vezzena, while another link 21 km long ends at the cross-country ski Centre of Campolongo, on the Asiago-Sette Comuni plateau. There are also signposted tracks for snow-shoe and nordic walking excursions (4 and 8 km long).
The facility includes a skiing school, ski waxing services, showers and changing rooms, signs, equipment hire, first aid, parking area, restaurant, bar and camper site.

San Martino di Castrozza and PrimieroÂ
Centro Fondo Passo Cereda
Top-level Nordic skiing at Passo Cereda, in the Primiero Valley, at 9 km from Fiera in the direction of SagrÃ²n-Mis. The circuits are of different lengths and various difficulty – some rather demanding – but always impeccably beaten and groomed and approved for international competitions as well. There are 15 km of pistes, and changing rooms, shower and ski-waxing facilities, and equipment rentals at the Rifugio Passo Cereda, or the rental shops in Primiero, complement the range of services associated with the SuperNordicSkipass. The pass can also be reached twice a week free of charge with the complimentary skibus.
On the other side of the valley, at 15 km from Fiera di Primiero, around Lake Calaita, beautifully situated inside the Paneveggio – Pale di San Martino Nature Park, there is an easy 5 km track (for both freestyle and classic skiing) in the Calaita valley. Skiing equipment can be rented locally.
Both destinations offer catering facilities and beaten nature fitness trails, for a pleasant hike on the snow, snowshoeing and skiing excursions, either alone or accompanied by guides.

Centro Fondo PrÃ delle Nasse (San Martino di Castrozza)
Cross-country skiing in beautiful natural surroundings, day and night. At the cross-country skiing centre of San Martino di Castrozza, right next to the town, the 9 km of pistes are well groomed and maintained for both the classic and skating techniques. The centre features three circuits, in the area of PrÃ delle Nasse, which wind their way in beautiful surroundings, amid forests and frozen streams; there’s an easy track for beginners; a medium difficulty track suitable for everybody, across wide sun-drenched fields; and a more difficult track that runs through the Colfosco fir tree forests. The tracks are beaten daily and, if necessary, snow-making facilities back up the snow on the easy and medium level tracks. Two kilometres of tracks are floodlit for night skiing. There are also changing and equipment storage and rental facilities. The centre is a member of the SuperNordicSkipass, the only ski pass you need for the main Trentino and Italian cross-country skiing centres.
In the surroundings there are also many kilometres of beaten and signposted tracks for snowshoeing and ski excursions, besides nature fitness trails.

Val Rendena and Val di Sole
Centro Fondo Campo Carlo Magno (Madonna di Campiglio)
A unique location, a basin surrounded by woods, easy accessible and supplied with all the services even the most demanding cross-country skier may ask for. The trails of the Campo Carlo Magno cross-country centre are always covered with natural snow and traced daily. Four tracks meet FISI standards and unfurl for a total of 22 km – including also easy trails and a ski-school camp. The Italian Cross-Country Ski Federation organizes both individual and group classes, advanced courses and private school camps. You will be provided with a playground area for kids, changing rooms with shower facilities, ski, bob, sledge and snow shoe rental, ski deposit, parking-lot and a restaurant serving local dishes.
The centre is part of the SuperNordicSkipass plan, the single skipass that allows admission to all major Italian and Trentino province cross-country centres.

Centro Fondo Vermiglio
Cross-country skiing in Italy’s largest nature reserves, Cross-country skiing, biathlon, ice skating for beginners and athletes alike, even at night. At Vermiglio, where skis have been used since the early 20th century, there is the Vermiglio Cross-country Skiing Centre offering 20 km of tracks along 7 interconnected itineraries in the Stelvio National Park and the Adamello Brenta Nature Park. The itineraries enchant skiers with their ever-changing landscapes in the beautiful fir forests and in view of the chain of mountains surrounding Val di Sole.
The tracks, prepared for free technique style and guaranteed by the artificial snow system along 2.3 km, provide 3 levels of difficulty, thus allowing beginners to learn and experts to prove their skills on the considerably more difficult segments. One of the pistes is lit for night skiing. The Velon ring is connected to other tracks and offers up to 22 km of skiing without ever taking your skis off. There are tracks made up to international competition standards and the Biathlon stadium. The Centre is served by the Italian Cross-country Skiing School of Vermiglio and Tre Laghetti, provides ski equipment rental and is part of the SuperNordicSkipass system that allows to use a single skipass for accessing the main cross-country skiing centres in Trentino and throughout Italy. The area also has a ice skating facility.

Trento Monte Bondone
Centro Fondo Viote
The Viote Cross-country ski centre in the sunny basin at the foot of the Tre Cime Peak of Monte Bondone offers 35 km of ski runs. Ring tracks of various levels of difficulty for free and classic technique skiing curl through the rich Alpine vegetation characterising this highly esteemed environment.
Many services are available such as a ski school, changing rooms with bath tubs and showers, ski waxing, sports equipment rentals, snack bar and restaurant, a large car park, first aid assistance. There is also a play area for children and tracks for sleds and snow-tubing.
The Viote Centre is part of the SuperNordicSkipass circuit, giving access to the main cross-country centres in the Trentino region and throughout Italy.
